5 new paintings in 5 hours spread over 5 days! One a day. There was some prep work to get ready for the 5-day challenge, which is a good jump start on the plain air painting season. I’ll finish the paintings over the next week and post them.
Four block-ins in five days for the #artworklivingchallenge and I’ll finish the paintings in the next few days. The goal was to finish the basic block-in in under 30 minutes. It was good motivation but I didn’t reach that goal on any painting. I spent an average of 40 minutes on each one (not including time spent mixing paint).
Visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Art today was so inspiring. I enjoyed the experience of a “normal” activity. Normal today means wearing a mask and reserving my time there, but those are minor adjustments in the scheme of things. I love the European Impressionists exhibit that is always on display, and I wandered through other collections that I will spend more time with sometime in the future.

Choosing a frame for a painting can seem as complicated as choosing the right frame for eye glasses. 🤓 While some frames look better on your face or on a painting, there’s no one “right” frame. That’s why a lot of art is presented without a frame. But then, how can you know what a painting looks like in a frame? It’s a conundrum. I include professional picture framers among my trusted partners on my art journey.
