Creating or making art is an experiment. If one thing doesn’t work, we try something different. But we (artists) often approach our work with a different expectation— immediate gratification that looks and feels like success. Art making is more fun when we think of it as experimenting. 😉 Stand with Ukraine. The writer's draft is equivalent to an artist's study. Now this 2x2-inch thumbnail study of mountain rhododendron can be read and decisions made about how to make it better. I'm painting small this month and working out the color palette (swipe) before I start painting. These little studies are 2 x 2 inches. #gouache on #archespaper This is a mini 2 x 2 inch gouache painting of a very large subject— mountains in the background. I’m working on a small series of these small paintings. What would you do with something this small? I’m trying a new medium—gouache. I think I’m going to like it. Love the matte finish and fast drying time.
